A few words for those who aren't aboard yet. Thai Ridgeback Dog is a dog, with a ridge on it's back. The ridge - is a stripe of fur where the hair grows in different direction.
You can find plenty of information about TRD in Wikipedia or on the Jack's Sterling website or on the Creative Thai Dog Club page. Also you can register at Noppakao's kennel forum and talk to hundreds of TRD fans.
So we will just share our own experience:
Thai ridgeback dog is very independent. Do not try to break it's inner core by physical punishment. The dog is perfectly aware of what it does but it's curiosity and desire to play overpowers all prohibitions, sometimes. However you have to be very strict since the instincts of these dogs are based upon the ancient rules of wolf packs. So you have to be the pack leader for your dog or there will be no deal.
Thai Ridgeback is very smart. TRD will not run after the stick. It will rather research the territory. The house where we lived - had a glass sliding door with a latch. Our dog has learned not only to open the latch but to slide the door aside too.
Thai Ridgeback cannot stand the loneliness. Do not get this dog if you're going to leave it alone for more than 4-5 hours every day. These dogs are attached to their owner very much. It's a real pain for a dog to stay away from you. At the very moment when you come home, TRD forgets for a while of it's "calm dignity", it's so happy that you know for sure how dog loves you.
Thai Ridgeback Dog is a born traveler and a perfect companion. There is nothing more pleasent for them, then to set off for a trip. Our dog travelled by car, train, motorbike, boat and followed us in the woods.
This is the perfect dog for hold indoors. It leaves no hair, it's very cleanly and you hardly notice TRD at home until you want it. It's very quiet and intelligent dog. Thai Ridgeback Dog also is a very good guardian, but you'll never hear endless annoying dog barking. However if you hear it's soft, deep voice, you always know that something's going on, worth your attention.
And finally Thai Ridgeback Dog is a very beautifull breed. Nothing special at a first glance but hardly you can take your eye off it. Perfectly balanced body, relief muscules and human eyes are fascinating. This dog is very fast and strong with the excellent jumping ability. It's really interesting sight when Thai Dog plays with other dogs and especially with other TRD.
